About Us
Pocahontas County is known for its stunning natural beauty—one of the most scenic areas in West Virginia and along the East Coast. Yet, the same rural charm that draws visitors also presents challenges for those who call it home. Limited infrastructure, including the absence of interstate highways and unreliable cell and internet service, has made it difficult for businesses to thrive and for residents to access modern opportunities. As a result, many young people leave the county after graduation, contributing to a shrinking and aging population.
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted a transformative truth: with fast, reliable internet, people can work remotely and businesses can operate successfully from virtually anywhere. For Pocahontas County, expanding broadband access is not just about connectivity—it’s about creating a future where young people can stay, work, and build their lives here.
The Pocahontas Broadband Council is committed to making that future a reality. In partnership with the County Commission and the Region 4 Planning and Development Council, we are working to bring high-speed internet to every corner of the county—empowering residents, attracting new opportunities, and strengthening our community.
